Chart-topping dance duo Sigma are among artists headlining at the UK’s largest student Summer Ball, taking place in Bournemouth this Saturday.
More than 7,000 Ƶ (BU) students will be donning fancy dress and heading to a field near Bournemouth Airport for the Summer Ball, organised by the Students’ Union at Ƶ (SUBU).
The festival-style Summer Ball features fairground rides, food stalls and live music, followed by a Survivors’ Photo on Bournemouth beach at sunrise.
Headline acts performing this year include drum and bass duo Sigma, who recently hit the top of the charts with their singles Nobody to Love and Changing; the BBC Sound of 2015 shortlisted band Sunset Sons; and garage band Artful Dodger, known for hits including Moving Too Fast and Re-Rewind.
Now in its 22nd year, all profits made from the annual Summer Ball are re-invested back into the students’ union.
Angus Carter, SUBU Marketing and Communications manager, said: “It’s the original festival-inspired university Ball and the biggest in the UK with 7,000 revellers.
“Ƶ students hold it close to their hearts and reminisce for good reasons – it’s always held just after the final exams, the calibre of the acts appearing over multiple stages is high - this year Sigma headline - and you finish up on Bournemouth’s beach.
“Best of all, it’s good to know that every penny of profit goes back into the Students’ Union, a registered charity offering development opportunities and services for Ƶ students.”
