²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ has risen 20 places in the Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey 2017.
BU rose from 76th to 56th in the latest rankings, up 20 places on last year, continuing its league table successes. Within the last 12 months BU also r, showing that BU is consistently on the rise.
The THE Student Experience Survey 2017 uses student survey feedback to measure students’ experience at university, including measures such as industry links, accommodation and academic experience.
Professor John Vinney, Vice-Chancellor of ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ, said, “This latest league table rise continues to underline BU’s upward direction of travel, alongside the recent rise in the Good University Guide. It is thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff that our student experience continues to improve, and the continued investments we are making at BU will help to ensure that our students have the best possible experience during their time with us.â€
As well as the overall table, the rankings are broken up per subject, and ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ has been rated as one of the top 20 universities in the UK for its links with industry. The university also numbered among the top 30 universities in the UK for the quality of its accommodation, according to the survey results.
²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ’s links with industry have often been highlighted as one of the university’s strengths. At BU all undergraduate students have the option to undertake a work placement as part of their course, and BU currently has more students undertaking a work placement as a part of their degree than any other university in Great Britain*.
BU’s placement offer has been highlighted through the recent #MyPlacementStory campaign, which followed current ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ students as they undertook placements at companies such as Warner Bros., Virgin, Microsoft and Poole Hospital.
The campaign underlines how ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ adds value to the student experience through work placements, and seeks to make students more employable when they graduate.
This added value has also been recognised by The Guardian University league table, which showed ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ to be fourth in the UK for the value it adds for students.
