Dorset’s newly-merged hospital trusts have gained university hospital status, strengthening their partnership with ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ.
– formerly Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals and Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts – launched today.Â
The university hospital status recognises the close working relationship the Trusts and BU have enjoyed over many years – from joint research projects to student placement opportunities and professional development for staff.
By formalising the partnership, the university hospital status will enable both organisations to continue working together in education, research and practice.
Professor John Vinney, Vice-Chancellor of ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ, said: “We have a long history of working incredibly well with the Poole Hospital and Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts over many years – training staff, jointly publishing research and working together to enrich society and focus on societal benefit.
“Both organisations have a huge amount in common in terms of our ambitions and our vision and we really look forward to working even more closely with this new partnership going forwards.â€
Debbie Fleming, Chief Executive of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to cement and develop further our partnership working with ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ.
"By becoming established from the outset as a university hospital, the commitment within our new organisation to learning, innovation and research will be clearly demonstrated.â€
